Building Equitable and Inclusive Places
Online Recording Now Available Here
Join us in a virtual Panel Discussion featuring CNU New England’s 2020 Urbanist Award Winners: Union Studio, Utile Inc, Goody Clancy, Lifecare Design Inc., and Principle Group. This year’s awards were judged on their ability to create places that are inclusive, inviting and equitable for the diverse populations of our region. The discussion moderated by Francis Goyes Flor of MassHousing will focus on the vision, process and creative efforts needed to make these places living and thriving realities.
We represent a community of practice, including all the disciplines that impact the built environment, who believe in good urbanism and that everyone deserves good design.
As a chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism, CNU-NE is a nonprofit organization that supports public and private sector leaders, community activists, and multidisciplinary professionals dedicated to reestablishing the relationship between the art of building and the making of community, through citizen-based participatory planning and design.
We strive to reverse the effects of systemic inequalities as enabled by past planning and built environment decisions and frameworks. By identifying and confronting exclusionary policies and practices, empowering those who have been most affected, and fostering more inclusive decision making; we work to design and build economically viable, stable, and environmentally healthy and equitable communities.
Our annual Urbanist Award winners were judged this last year for their ability to create just these kinds of places.
