Since he began making furniture, Tommy has been internationally recognized by various print publications, awards and even ultimately his own television show on the subject.

Carpenter, construction worker, craftsman, educator, writer/producer, TV personality - Tommy MacDonald has worn all these hats with skill, attitude and boisterous success. A graduate of North Bennet Street School, his world-class furniture gained instant recognition by the Globe, Forbes and many more. In 2005 he was invited to create a woodworking series on The Rough Cut Show produced over 200 episodes, attracting millions of viewers. In 2010 Tommy went international as co-creator, co-executive producer and host of Rough Cut Woodworking with Tommy Mac which ran for seven seasons, accruing five Emmy Nominations and a dozen Telly Awards. In 2019, Tommy thought he was done making furniture forever. While clearing trees on his brother Jimmy’s North Carolina farm, Tommy was inspired by the unique qualities of a swamp oak board. He put some boards aside in case he ever made furniture again. At the start of the pandemic, Tommy’s other projects were put on hold and he opened a new shop in the North End. The first thing he did after getting set up was retrieve those boards and start working on his Bragg series. Hear about Tommy’s design process, selecting and cutting material, preparing the live edge and craftsmanship.
