A walking tour of the completed part of the Muddy River Restoration Project area.  Come learn how the area has changed since it was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and constructed in the 1890’s, and how Boston, Brookline, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the US Army Corps of Engineers have worked together to help reduce the risk of flood damage, enhance habitat, and restore historic landscape in the 21st century. Tour led by Fran Gershwin, Chair of the Muddy River Restoration Project Maintenance and Management Oversight Committee (MMOC), and Kelly Brilliant, Executive Director of the Fenway Alliance.

This tour is a program of Boston Design Week 2022 and Olmsted Now, Greater Boston's Olmsted Bicentennial - a year long celebration of the life and work of Frederick Law Olmsted. Tour is led by Fran Gershwin, Chair of the Muddy River Restoration Project Maintenance and Management Oversight Committee (MMOC), and Kelly Brilliant, Executive Director of the Fenway Alliance.

The public has been involved in the Muddy River Restoration Project (the “Project”) since the start of the MEPA (Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act) review of the Project. At that time, the Secretary of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs created an independent public oversight committee to ensure public participation in the Project, protect the public investment, and provide independent oversight of the maintenance and management of the park system by the Proponents, the City of Boston and the Town of Brookline. This oversight later became the Maintenance and Management Oversight Committee (MMOC). The Fenway Alliance has been a member of the MMOC since its formation.

The Fenway Alliance is a membership service & advocacy organization dedicated to the enhancement of the Fenway Cultural District. Members of the Alliance are a consortium of twenty-one major cultural, arts and academic institutions located in The Fenway.
