IHCD, a 45 year-old international design and education non-profit is providing a day-long open house opportunity for an immersion in Inclusive Design, a global movement promoting design as a tool of social equity across the spectrum of ability, age, culture and gender. Throughout the day, a mix of exhibit, film, digital and live presentations will offer an opportunity to appreciate the state-of-the art of Inclusive Design practice in transit, office, culture, higher education as well as recent global award winners. The day will wrap up with an interview and book signing with the nationally-known designer Coco Raynes at 5:30, RSVP required.

Visit Boston Architectural College’s (BAC) McCormick Gallery for this informal talk to engage with our featured exhibit: Architecture is Within Us: The Selected Works of Balkrishna Doshi. This exhibit reveals Doshi’s emerging sense of architecture as a platform for living with dignity, joy and evolution. Doshi’s illustrious work spans over 60 years at multiple scales and exemplifies the crucial role architecture plays in connecting society and promoting wellbeing, a sense of identity, and communal spirit. Sadly, Doshi died this year at 95. In an ever-evolving digital world, a hands-on educational experience has become increasingly more elusive at the university level. Wentworth’s Industrial Design program believes that in order to successfully meet the future we must also keep ourselves firmly rooted in the fundamentals of building and making. This exhibit, and a two-hour tour led by faculty, will offer insights into how we integrate traditional and emerging design methodologies and connect those technologies to Wentworth’s network of engineering and entrepreneurial strategies.
